RF engineers use network planning tools such as Mentum Planet to create and maintain a model of the wireless network's configuration (typically called the planning data) in order to produce air-interface simulations and analyses for the purpose of network planning and optimization. The planning data is typically made of both the on-air configuration (i.e. current network) as well as the changes planned to the network (i.e. planned network).

The wireless network is an operator's key asset and therefore information stored or produced in the radio network planning tool, such as coverage maps, is valuable to many other internal and external network stakeholders.  Extracting, integrating, formatting and distributing the data is a time consuming process, delaying and sometimes even preventing access for those who need it. This is particularly true in the context of today's networks, which are operating across multiple bands and using multiple radio access technologies and where additional network elements are integrated in the network to deal with the fast increasing data demand.

Mentum Fusion Server solves this problem by using the network planning data stored in Mentum Planet's Multi-User Collaboration Platform (Data Manager) to automate the production of coverage maps for any technology, any band and any network element status. The resulting maps and statistics as well as the associated configuration of the sites and sectors can be accessed easily through the Mentum Fusion Web* platform, making it easy for any stakeholder to get access to an up-to-date view of the network that is relevant for them.

Mentum Fusion also makes it possible to automate the integration of the planning data with other sources of relevant network configuration or performance data which can be useful from a reporting perspective. Such integration is done through an ETL platform embedded with Mentum Fusion and which simplifies the data adaption between the planning data and other sources of data.

Ultimately, efficient management of a wireless network is a vital differentiator for the operators faced with an incessant growth of the mobile data demand which is, in turn, driving the size and complexity of the network. Mentum Fusion helps operators meet these challenges by automating repetitive tasks and streamlining access to important information.
